Product Condition Guide
Every item at MRO Exchange is inspected, photographed, and categorized by condition before listing. This guide explains what each condition means so you know exactly what you're buying.

Standard Condition Tiers
Factory Sealed
Item is brand new in its original manufacturer's packaging with the factory seal fully intact. It has never been opened, installed, or used. All original documentation, accessories, and protective packaging are included as shipped from the manufacturer.
This is our highest condition tier. Buyers can expect the same item they would receive from an authorized distributor, sold at surplus pricing.
Open Box – Unused
Item is unused but the original manufacturer's packaging has been opened. The factory seal, shrink wrap, or minor packaging components may be missing or damaged. The item itself shows no signs of installation or use. Original documentation and accessories are typically included unless otherwise noted in the listing.
This tier is for buyers who want an unused item and don't require a sealed box.
Inspected Surplus – Appears Unused
Item is in excellent cosmetic condition and shows no visible signs of installation or use, but is sold without original manufacturer packaging. Each item has been inspected and photographed at our warehouse before listing.
Sold as surplus inventory. No functional testing is performed at our facility. Buyers should review all photos and specifications before purchase.
This tier is for buyers prioritizing condition over packaging at a lower price than sealed or open-box equivalents.
Surplus – Untested
Item is sold as-is from surplus inventory. It may show signs of prior installation, storage wear, or handling consistent with used industrial equipment. Photos reflect the actual unit being sold and its current condition.
No functional testing is performed at our facility. No representations are made regarding operational status or remaining service life. Buyers are responsible for reviewing all photos, specifications, and compatibility before purchase.
This is our most common tier and is priced accordingly. Buyers comfortable evaluating used industrial equipment from photos and specifications will find the best value here.
Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation Condition Tiers
Allen Bradley products are sold under a separate set of condition tiers to reflect the realities of the surplus market for Rockwell Automation products.
Important disclosures that apply to all Allen Bradley products sold by MRO Exchange:
- MRO Exchange is an independent reseller and is not an authorized distributor of Rockwell Automation.
- Allen Bradley is a trademark of Rockwell Automation, Inc.
- The original Rockwell Automation manufacturer warranty does not apply.
- Units may differ from those available through authorized distributors in date code, country of origin, packaging, accessories, software, media, or firmware revision.
- Specifications are sourced from publicly available manufacturer documentation and are provided for identification purposes only. MRO Exchange does not warrant accuracy or guarantee compatibility.
- Buyers are responsible for confirming suitability for their application against current manufacturer documentation.
Surplus Original Packaging
Allen Bradley product sourced from a surplus channel. The item has never been used or installed and remains in its original manufacturer packaging with the seal intact. Packaging may show shelf wear. Date codes may be older than current factory production.
Surplus Original Packaging – Opened
Allen Bradley product sourced from a surplus channel. The item has never been used or installed. The original manufacturer packaging has been opened; the original seal may be broken or missing.
Surplus Unused, No Original Packaging
Allen Bradley product sourced from a surplus channel. The item shows no visible signs of installation or use, but is not in original manufacturer packaging.
Surplus – Untested
Allen Bradley product sourced from a surplus channel. Sold as-is. May show signs of prior installation, storage wear, or handling consistent with used industrial equipment. No functional testing has been performed.
