When the cap screws are tightened, the ring is drawn against the tapered back of the nut, driving the rear sections radially inward to uniformly clamp the threads against the shaft.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eConfirmed specifications per Whittet-Higgins published data include a 4.716 in. 12 TPI right hand UNS thread, a 6.500 in. outside diameter, a 5.430 in. face diameter, a 1.102 in. width, and a rated axial load capacity of 126,800 lbs. The unit uses M6 lock screws and is finished in manganese phosphate for corrosion resistance.
