Used in solid state DC adjustable speed drive systems, the ABB Spectrum EHDB-280 is a 3-pole drive contactor rated at 600 V DC with a continuous current rating of 280 A. Manufactured by ABB Control and part of the Spectrum series, this contactor carries the catalog designation EHDB 280C and is specifically engineered for applications where the contactor is not required to make or break the load under normal operating conditions. The normally closed contact is configured for dynamic braking duty. Terminal markings 1, 2, 3, 4 on the main poles and 5(+) and 6(-) on the DC bus side are visible on the nameplate. A CAL16-11A auxiliary contact block is mounted on the unit, providing 1 NO and 1 NC auxiliary contacts. The coil voltage code visible on the base label references the EHDB 280C series with an "L" suffix, indicating a lug-less terminal configuration. The contactor is CE marked and carries UL and CSA listings as shown on the nameplate. Terminal lug hardware is present and the unit includes lead wires attached to the coil terminals. ABB Control manufactured this unit at facilities in Wichita Falls, Texas and St. Laurent, Quebec.
