The Allen-Bradley 509-BOD is a NEMA Size 1 full voltage non-reversing magnetic motor starter rated at 27 amps continuous and 600V AC maximum. The catalog number is 509-BOD, Series B, manufactured by Allen-Bradley (A-B) in the USA. The coil voltage visible on the unit is 115-120V at 60Hz, with an alternate rating of 110V at 50Hz. Maximum horsepower ratings per the nameplate are 7.5 HP at 200V and 230V for three-phase 3 to 5 pole operation, 10 HP at 460-575V three-phase, and 2 HP at 115V single phase or 3 HP at 230V single phase. The starter features three main power poles labeled L1, L2, and L3, a manual RESET button on the overload relay, and a TIPPED indicator visible on the overload assembly. An integrated eutectic alloy overload relay is mounted to the assembly. Two short red lead wires are present on the unit. The open-type construction is designed for panel or enclosure mounting and is non-combination, meaning it does not include a fused disconnect. The 509 series is a legacy Allen-Bradley product line that has been discontinued and replaced by more current offerings, which makes surplus units relevant for maintenance, repair, and replacement applications in existing installations.
