The Allen-Bradley 509-AOB is a Bulletin 509 full voltage magnetic motor starter rated for NEMA Size 0 applications. The nameplate confirms CAT 509-AOB, Series B, with a continuous rating of 18 amps at 600VAC maximum. The unit is configured for three-phase operation with three line terminals (L1, L2, L3) and three load terminals (T1, T2, T3). A coil voltage label visible on the assembly indicates 115-120V AC. Published specifications for the 509-AOB describe an open-type construction with a 3-pole contactor, one normally open auxiliary contact, and a eutectic alloy overload relay. The overload relay section features a visible RESET button and a TRIPPED indicator, consistent with Allen-Bradley Bulletin 592 series overload relay integration. Maximum motor ratings per nameplate data include 3 HP at 200V and 3 HP at 230V for three-phase two-pole configurations, and 1 HP at 115V for single-phase two-pole use. The 509-AOB is part of Allen-Bradley's legacy NEMA motor control lineup and has been out of active production for many years, making used and surplus examples the primary source for replacement or spare inventory. Two short wire leads are attached to the auxiliary contact terminals as found.
