The Allen Bradley 1771-ASC/A is a Universal Remote I/O Adapter Module from the 1771 PLC platform, designed to interface remote I/O chassis with PLC-2, PLC-3, and PLC-5 programmable controllers. This unit is Series A and carries the ReManElectronics and Electrical South remanufactured service tags, indicating prior remanufacture and quality assurance handling. The adapter transmits and receives data between the I/O scanner and remote I/O modules at a communication rate of 57.6 kbit/s, with cable distance support up to 10,000 feet at that baud rate. It reads and writes data from input and output modules in parallel form and converts that information into serial form for transmission to the host processor. The 1771-ASC supports multiple I/O addressing methods including 1/2-slot, 1-slot, and 2-slot addressing, and accepts any mix of 4, 6, 8, 16, or 32 point I/O modules. On power up, the module verifies I/O configuration and module placement. The adapter operates on 5 VDC backplane power and connects via the 1771-WB swing-arm wiring connector. Applications include legacy distributed control architectures, remote chassis integration on PLC-5 systems, and replacement parts inventory for industrial process control, automotive, metals, and material handling installations that continue to operate on the 1771 platform. Packaging includes original anti-static bag, Instapak foam cushioning, and service identification tags from the remanufacturer.
