This Data Products Core Memories Inc ferrite core memory plane board, part number 401-50326-00 (assembly 717510-2D, serial HA 366, PWB 717166-1D), is a large-format magnetic core memory array providing 32K x 18 bit capacity. The board was assembled in Hong Kong and bears the DPHK 9 Final inspection stamp. The solder side reveals four ferrite core array quadrants arranged in a characteristic grid pattern across the center field of the board, with dense edge connector circuitry on all four sides for full-edge backplane interfacing. This type of ferrite core memory plane was used in minicomputers and industrial CNC control systems during the 1970s and into the early 1980s, before being superseded by semiconductor RAM. Ferrite core memory is inherently non-volatile, retaining stored data without power, and was widely valued for its reliability in industrial environments. This board is of significant interest to vintage computer collectors, computer history museums, and researchers. Data Products Core Memories Inc supplied core memory assemblies for a range of minicomputer and industrial control platforms. The board is in used condition as removed; no functional testing has been performed.
