This Giddings and Lewis EIA Interface board, part number 502-02804-50 (assembly number 501-03168-00, serial number 257), is a large-format CNC control circuit board designed for use in Giddings and Lewis machine control systems including the G&L 8000 and 8000B NumeriPath CNC platforms. The board features dual gold-finger edge connectors on both the left and right edges for backplane installation, and is populated throughout with through-hole ICs, resistor networks, red capacitors, and discrete components on a green FR4 substrate. A 40-pin DIP processor or logic IC is mounted at center lower, accompanied by a 1.843200 MHz crystal oscillator. Seven vertical white trace indicator lines are silkscreened for layout reference, and multiple test point locations are labeled across the board surface. Two coaxial connectors are visible at lower right. The EIA designation indicates this board handles EIA-standard serial communication or digitizing interface functions within the CNC control rack. The UP orientation arrow with directional marking is cast into the board housing for correct rack installation. With the G&L 8000 control platform at end-of-life status per Fives, replacement EIA Interface boards such as this one are increasingly scarce for facilities maintaining legacy Giddings and Lewis horizontal boring mills, vertical turning centers, and other G&L CNC equipment.
