The Giddings and Lewis Electronics Company unit assembly 503-13906-01 is a complete CNC nest assembly (Nest Assembly 886443) from the Giddings and Lewis 8000 series CNC control family. Manufactured at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA, this assembly is a division of Giddings and Lewis Inc. The chassis houses a dual-column card rack with numbered slot positions A1 through A19 on both sides, accommodating up to 38 individual circuit boards across two columns. A populated backplane motherboard (silkscreen identifier 502-02883) is visible on the rear of the unit.

The assembly is populated with approximately 30 or more individual printed circuit boards occupying the majority of the available slots. Multiple relay-style I/O cards with terminal strips are visible in the upper slots on both columns, consistent with the Dayton-branded relay modules observed in the photos. Additional green PCB assemblies occupy the lower card positions. Two large square cooling fans are mounted at the base of the rear panel to provide forced-air cooling to the card rack.

Per Cooke CNC documentation, 503 catalog numbers are equivalent to the 573 series, and this assembly is associated with the G&L 8000 and 8000B NumeriPath CNC control platform commonly used on Giddings and Lewis horizontal boring mills, vertical turning centers, and machining centers.
