Used in CNC machining centers as a 4th axis or semi-4th axis positioning device, the Hardinge GD5C2 is a precision servo-driven rotary indexer built around the industry-standard 5C collet spindle system. The unit features a 2-3/16 inch threaded spindle nose compatible with standard 5C collets, step chucks, expanding collets, jaw chucks, and face plates. Specifications confirmed from the Hardinge GD5C2 series include a maximum spindle runout of 0.0002 inch TIR, spindle speed from 0.001 to 360 degrees per second, maximum rapid RPM of 60, maximum part weight of 50 lbs, a 1.18 inch through hole, and a 4 inch centerline height to base. The integrated DC brushless servo motor drives the spindle through a 60:1 precision worm gear system producing 54 ft-lb of torque at the spindle. Multiple multi-pin circular connectors are present on the unit for motor power and encoder feedback, allowing direct CNC interface cable connection for true 4th axis operation. The nameplate reads HARDINGE and Made in U.S.A. with serial number 1629. This listing is for the indexer head unit with associated cables only. No servo control box is included. Compatible with Hardinge servo controls and various CNC machine interface options including M-code and RS-232. Model designation confirmed as GD5C2 based on spindle nose configuration, physical construction, and serial number range consistent with published Hardinge GD5C2 documentation.
