The Westcode N540SH16 is a phase control thyristor (SCR) supplied as a press pack capsule in a ceramic housing. This unit was packaged and distributed by Rockwell Automation under equipment part number 122.93.02 as a service spare and is marked with the suffix L00 E4L. Westcode is now part of the Ixys / Littelfuse power semiconductor group, and the N540CH16 is the current designation for what was previously cataloged as N540SH16.

Rated at 1600V repetitive peak off state voltage with an average on state current of 1715A, the N540CH16 is a converter grade SCR built around a silicon die with an enhanced gate contact. It is designed for use in industrial power conversion applications including DC drives, soft starters, controlled rectifiers, induction heating supplies, UPS systems, and high current phase control assemblies. The press pack format allows double sided cooling between heatsinks for high current density installations.

Construction features include a hermetically sealed ceramic case, copper pole faces for clamping between heatsinks, and a flying lead gate connection. The device is UL registered under file numbers E157027 and E195543. Country of origin marked on the OEM carton is England.

Manufacturer published electrical parameters include VRRM / VDRM of 1600V and IT(AV) of 1715A at typical case temperature conditions. Mounting requires a clamping fixture to apply specified force across the pole faces for proper electrical and thermal contact.
