"Used in CNC machine tool control systems from the early 1980s, the Giddings & Lewis 501-03855-00 is a dual-section Digital I/O Board designed for integration into G&L CNC and programmable industrial control systems. The board is silkscreened ""DIGITAL I/O"" with part number 501-03855-00, assembly number 502-, and a revision date of 7/83 RB, confirming it as a Giddings & Lewis manufactured board from July 1983.

The PCB features two mirrored sections, each with 16 individually numbered I/O channels. Each channel includes a fuse position (FU1 series), a red LED status indicator, and a terminal block connection strip accommodating up to 32 I/O points per section, for a total of 32 numbered terminal positions per board half. Input and output connectors are labeled on the board at the top edge of each section. The board also incorporates dual resistor networks (RN1-1, RN1-2) per section, integrated circuits, and output bus connectors.

The board carries the distinctive Giddings & Lewis ""G"" logo and is consistent with the G&L 500-series I/O board family used in NumeriPath and related CNC platforms. A sticker labeled M.1016.8621 is affixed to the lower right corner of each section. The unit is presented in anti-static packaging. Compatible applications include G&L CNC horizontal boring mills, machining centers, and other machine tools utilizing the 500-series control architecture."
