The Timken 558 is a single cone for a single row tapered roller bearing, part of the widely used Timken 500 Series inch tapered roller bearing line. This cone (inner ring) assembly pairs with a matching cup (outer ring, sold separately) to form a complete tapered roller bearing suitable for combined radial and axial load applications. Bore diameter is 2.3750 inches and cone width is 1.4440 inches per Timken published specifications. Construction is high alloy bearing steel with a stamped steel cage that retains and spaces the tapered rollers. The open design supports in place lubrication and field adjustment of axial clearance or preload during assembly. The 558 is the cone half of common bearing pairings including 558/552A and 558/553X assemblies used across automotive axle systems, heavy truck wheel ends, agricultural equipment, mining machinery, conveyor drives, and general industrial power transmission.
