The Whittet-Higgins BL-24 is a Bearlok mechanical lock retaining nut designed for securing bearings and other power transmission components to shafts and spindles. The BL series features a base nut, compression ring, and socket head cap screws that work together to provide uniform circumferential clamping around the shaft threads. Specifications include a 4.716-12 UNS right-hand thread, 6.5 in. outside diameter, 5.430 in. face diameter, and 1.102 in. width. The unit is rated for an axial load capacity of 126,800 lbs and uses M6 lockscrews. The design provides longitudinal access to the locking mechanism, eliminating the need for a keyway in the shaft and offering infinite adjustment positions for precise bearing preload. The nut meets and exceeds ANSI/AFBMA Standard 8.1, 1986 and ISO 2982 specifications. Manganese phosphate finish is applied for corrosion resistance. This part replaces SKF AN 24, standard AN24, Taperline HTLN 24 PH, and TLN 24 PH locknuts of equivalent thread specification. Manufactured in the USA.
