The A.O. Smith S56C25A97 is a two-speed single-phase AC motor rated at 1/2 and 1/6 horsepower, designed for evaporative cooler and ventilation fan applications. It operates on 115 volts, 60 Hz, with dual speeds of 1725 and 1140 RPM. Frame size is 56Z with an open drip-proof enclosure and rigid base mounting. Rotation is CWLE (clockwise looking at lead end). Rated current is 7.3 amps at high speed and 4.3 amps at low speed, with a service factor of 1.0 and Class B insulation. The motor incorporates an automatic reset thermal protector, Type A. Bearings are ball type. The shaft is 1/2 inch with a flat. Phase is single (1 PH), ambient temperature rating 40 degrees C. Serial number 08610CH. Manufactured by A.O. Smith Corp., made in China, UL and CSA listed. The S56C25A97 has been superseded in the A.O. Smith / Century lineup by the SVB2054 series, which shares the same core specifications.
